John Boulding lives in Mount Airy, North Carolina.

John Boulding's distinctive banjo and resophonic guitar playing make The Shady Grove Band complete.  He began to play banjo at the age of ten. His musical tastes range from bluegrass, blues, swing, country, rock, to jazz, but his first love is bluegrass.  His dry wit and stage presence are a wonderful addition to the band.  He has played with many professional acts including:  Wyatt Rice and Santa Cruz (founding member), Johnny and Jeanette Williams, The Severts, Piedmont Grass, Arnie Solomon Band, Alleghany Moon, Glen Alexander, and currently, for the past ten years as a member of The Shady Grove Band.
